Coast to Cairn art

Aileen grew up in Guisborough on the edge of the North York Moors, and spent a large amount of her childhood out walking in the local area. Family holidays were always spent walking in the highlands and islands of Scotland, and she developed a love of being outdoors in all weathers. Watching the changing seasons and ever changing light in the British countryside inspired an interest in trying to capture the it. At first this was with an old camera given to her by her grandfather, and later with paint.

Through her school years Aileen used to paint as a hobby, but stopped when studying science at University. She is curious about how the world works tries to use this to build an understanding of light and colour in her work.
